Fees and Billing
Consultation - The charge for the initial consultation will primarily be based upon the complexity of the matter in which you consult us.
Standard Fee - A fixed fee for standardized services, such as drafting of routine deeds, wills, or simple incorporation will be quoted.
Contingent Fees - In certain situations, generally involving lawsuits for a recovery of a sum of money (personal injury suits; large collections for example), we receive a fixed percentage of the total amount recovered as compensation for handling the case.
Variable Hourly Fees - In most matters, the fee depends on the time spent, results obtained, priority given to the matter, and complexity of the matter. We will be pleased to furnish you with an estimate of the legal fee involved.
Retainers - Like most law offices, this office requires a reasonable retainer fee. The fee is basically a deposit for our time.
How We Compute Our Fees and Bill You - Our office will keep accurate records of the time expended and services performed on your matter. When we send out our bill, we will specify the time spent, how it was spent, and the charge for that time. In addition, you will be billed for expenses incurred on the file. Billing may occur on a monthly basis, quarterly basis, or yearly basis which may be determined at the time of the initial conference.
Estimates - Disbursements - This office will, on your behalf, have to incur expenses in the obtaining and filing of documents, other papers, and in the conducting of investigations. In anticipation of this, an advance to cover such expenses may be required. The amount of the advance will depend on the nature of the legal services required.
